Ann Geise - Biography |
Ann Geise grew up in the rural suburbs of Cincinnati where being outdoors was an important part of her childhood experience. She took every opportunity to explore, study, and sketch nature. After graduating with a biology degree from Northern Kentucky University, and working in pharmaceutical research for several years, Ann reconnected with nature at Cincinnati Nature Center (CNC) in Milford, Ohio. For 19 years Ann shaped the way many have viewed CNC. With an artist`s perspective and a naturalist`s knowledge, she illustrated and designed the center`s publications and exhibits on natural history. Her images are not only beautiful but scientifically accurate, with an eye for detail that captures the spirit and life of her subjects, whether they be wildflowers, elephants, owls or butterflies. In 2008 Ann decided to devote herself full time to painting. From highly detailed watercolors to fresh semi-impressionistic oils, Ann`s style continues to evolve. The natural world continues to be Ann`s inspiration, and capturing its essence in a painting, her passion.
